Smooth Walls: What They Are and Why Homeowners in Vancouver WA Love Them
Most walls in new homes have some texture on them, like orange peel or knockdown. It hides small flaws, but a lot of people are tired of it. They want walls that are flat and smooth, like in a magazine.

What is a smooth wall?
It's a wall with no bumps and no texture. We cover the whole surface with thin coats of mud, sand it flat, and prime it. When it's painted, it looks clean and even, even when sunlight hits it from the side.
Can you make my textured walls smooth?
Yes. You don't need new drywall. We skim coat right over the texture, sand it, and get it ready for paint. Most rooms take 2 to 4 days, depending on size and how heavy the texture is.

Why do people choose smooth walls?
The room looks newer and bigger
Paint looks richer, especially darker colors
It's easier to wipe clean
It's the right base for Venetian plaster or other decorative finishes

Is it messy?
Sanding makes dust, so we cover floors and furniture and seal off the room. We clean up when we're done.
Where do you work?
Vancouver, Camas, Washougal, Battle Ground, Ridgefield and the Portland area.
